Let’s make our own pom poms! We can create endless color combinations, make it rainbow colored or match it to our favorite team colors. We can make them as little as pom pom clappers or make them as big as those frilly stadium pom poms that can be seen for miles and miles. Well, maybe not for miles and miles, but you get the idea. These are pretty simple and quick to make. Let’s make a crepe paper pom pom for this article and although it will probably die before the game even ends, but at least, it will be full of volume and even add a little noise with the swishing of the paper strips together. It’s pom pom crafts and confetti combined!

How to Create your own Pom Poms

By using crepe paper as your pom pom, you acre creating a very poofy, voluptuous pom pom that will also unintentionally turn into confetti as the heat of the game you are watching gets hotter and hotter. Collect the amount of folded crepe paper you want. Choose whatever singular or combination of colors you want to use. Crepe paper almost always comes in an accordion fold.

Pile up the sheets that you wish to use and then fold them in half. By now, we are going to start to snip the edges of the pompom. It makes a lot more sense to cut away the already open part but that is just a lot of hard work going at you, but it isn’t entire wrong to do so. It is just neater to cut them through the folded edge. So you’ve cut away strips down, but not all the way through, make sure the strips are all uniform in width. It looks much better and more professional looking if they were all the same size. You may or may not snip the folded edge itself. By doing so, you create a “crazier” pom pom with strips flying all over the place, while the folded edges may restrict and make your pom pom seem like a more rounded pom pom.

Rolling the uncut edge and rolling it up with some electrical tape will make for an awesome handle. Make it as short or long as you prefer. Then begin to carefully unravel the pom pom, as you would tousle your hair after putting hair spray on it.

Your simple and quick pom pom craft is finally done and you can go on and cheer for your team with your cut up, shredded pile of crepe paper.
